Meridian Yoga Series - Heart Meridian

This is a five-week series that combines acupressure and meridian meditations from Traditional Chinese Medicine with Yoga to give powerful healing techniques. The class series will be focusing on the four heart meridians: pericardium, triple heater, heart and small intestine. Emotionally these meridians have to do with joy, pleasure, connection, wisdom, and discernment. Physically, they can be felt in the diaphragm, heart, deep abdominal fascia, shoulders and small intestine.


The classes will combine yoga asana, concentration techniques and acupressure. For students with an Intermediate/Advanced practice, there will be handstands, arm balances and deeper backbends as options to workshop. The classes will begin with meridian activation and concentration techniques, move into a vinyasa flow using Dharma and Ashtanga poses, and then use traditional long hold postures to cultivate yin energy and inner awareness.


For more in-depth asana practice come to the Yoga Open Practice on Monday and Wednesday mornings, 6:30-9 AM. It is highly recommended that practitioners practice yoga asana and acupressure daily. The open practice can provide instruction in Progressive Ashtanga and Science of Self Meridian Yoga. Sequences are memorized by students and practiced as an act of self-inquiry and meditation.
